Are you joining us for Mass today?

The Season After Pentecost 2025

St. John the Divine

Hello, Reader!

This morning, we gather for Mass, and we would love for you to join us.

We hope you'll join us both as we grow together in prayer, praise, and fellowship.

The Hope of Resurrection

Twenty-Second Sunday after Pentecost

This Sunday’s readings present us with the profound hope that characterizes Christian faith: the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

This Sunday’s Readings

Old Testament: Job 19:23-27a
From deep suffering, Job makes one of Scripture’s most powerful declarations: “I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the last he will stand upon the earth.” Even after his body is gone, Job is confident he will see God with his own eyes.

Psalm: Psalm 17:1-9
A prayer asking for God’s protection and justice, expressing trust that the righteous will see God’s face and be fulfilled by His presence.

Epistle: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17
Paul encourages anxious believers not to be shaken or alarmed about the day of the Lord. Instead of panicking, he urges them to stand firm in hope, knowing that God has chosen them for salvation and has provided eternal comfort through grace.

Gospel: Luke 20:27-38
When the Sadducees attempt to trap Jesus with a riddle about resurrection, He responds with profound truth: “Now he is God not of the dead, but of the living; for to him all of them are alive.” God’s eternal nature guarantees the reality of resurrection.

Your Redeemer lives. How will you live today as a child of the resurrection?

Did you know we have a webpage for each Sunday service? We aim to stay a week ahead, so you can view the readings and more from the week prior if you'd like. Or go back and see what we did!

If you feel moved to pray for others, we encourage you to add those from our prayer list to your prayers to strengthen our community.

If you need ideas for prayer, consider using prayers from the Book of Common Prayer to support you on your prayer journey.

Don’t forget to check out this week's announcements.

Blessings, and have a great week!
