Hello, Reader!
Join us for worship! This morning, we gather for Mass, and we would love for you to be with us. We hope you'll join us both as we grow together in prayer, praise, and fellowship.
Readings for the Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost
Proper 22, Track 2
Old Testament: Habakkuk 1:1-4; 2:1-4
The prophet Habakkuk cries out to God about injustice and violence in the world. God responds by telling Habakkuk to wait with patience and faith, promising that "the righteous shall live by their faith." The vision will come in God's appointed time.
Psalm 37:1-10
This psalm encourages us not to worry about evildoers or envy those who succeed through wrongdoing. Instead, we are called to trust in the Lord, take joy in Him, and wait patiently. God will support the righteous and keep His promises.
Epistle: 2 Timothy 1:1-14
Paul writes to his beloved student Timothy, urging him to rekindle the gift of God within him. Paul reminds Timothy that God has given us a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline—not fear. He encourages Timothy to protect the precious gift of faith and stand firm in sound teaching.
Gospel: Luke 17:5-10
When the apostles ask Jesus to increase their faith, He teaches that even faith as small as a mustard seed has great power. Jesus then reminds them that faithful service is our humble duty, and we are called to serve without expecting special recognition.
Theme:
These readings urge us to trust in God's justice and timing, to live with unwavering faith even during uncertain times, and to serve with humility as faithful followers of Christ.
