Hello, Reader!
Alleluia!
In today's Gospel, Jesus presents himself as both the Good Shepherd who knows his sheep by name and the gate through which they enter into abundant life. We are invited to recognize his voice amid the many competing voices in our world.
First Reading – Acts 2:42–47 The early Christian community lives under the guidance of the Good Shepherd, sharing everything in common and experiencing abundance together. With glad and generous hearts, they praise God and grow daily in number.
Psalm 23 A song of trust and confidence: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want." From green pastures to dark valleys, the Psalmist bears witness to God's faithful guidance and protection.
Epistle – 1 Peter 2:20b–25 Christ is the shepherd who suffered for us, taking our sins upon himself so that we might return to him and find healing. We were like sheep going astray, but now we have returned to the shepherd and guardian of our souls.
Gospel – John 10:11–18 Jesus declares, "I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved and will come in and go out to find pasture." He offers not mere existence but an abundant life rooted in a relationship with him—a life marked by peace, purpose, and the security of being known and loved.
In a world of competing voices that promise fulfillment through possessions and status, we are called to listen for the voice of the Good Shepherd. His invitation is to a different way: love over possessions, service over status, and relationships over achievement.
